Purple Bandhani Silk Chiffon Sari

A bandhani, or tie-dyed, sari from Jaipur, the craft capital of India. Many tie-dyeing techniques are still used there for both traditional and modern garments. Each pinch of fabric is hand-knotted before dyeing to create the resist design, just like in Japanese kanoko shibori.

Very soft, sheer silk chiffon in deep magenta purple. The borders and striped endpiece are deep green. This has been worn but is in good condition. Hand wash in cool water and line dry in shade.
