Wilder Gown made by Rare Device

Another Beautiful Jamdani Wilder Top

Shannon's indigo jamdani Wilder Top

Many of you are probably familiar with Shannon, the art historian/sewing blogger at Rare Device. She always knows the coolest patterns and stitches them up in her own inimitable style. (You must see her patchwork Wiksten jacket!)

Back in the innocent days of spring 2020 she posted about the beautiful Wilder top she made from one of our handloom jamdani cottons. But we were all a little distracted then, just heading into quarantine, and I'm sorry I haven't shared it with you until now.

Shannon’s top is fabulous! No wonder this pattern, from Friday Pattern Company, has been so popular. Jamdani fabrics are a great fabric choice for making both the top and gown, as we saw with Atia’s dress — they’re lightweight with a soft drape that works well with all those gathers at the neckline.

Airy dresses and tops like this are just what we love to wear in summer, yet the volume of the Wilder also allows for layers underneath when the weather cools. Shannon made a nice design change on the sleeves which you can read about at Rare Device, and you can find more jamdani fabrics in our shop. Most of our other handwoven fabrics would make wonderful Wilders, too!
