In rural India, women often recycle worn-out saris into other textile forms. Torn into strips, those old clothes can be given new life when woven into handloom cotton fabrics like this.
Lapis blue with upcycled stripes in joyful colors: red and yellow, pink and purple, touches of green and white: every yard is different! (The current bolt has mostly purple stripes as shown in the second photo.)
Light- to mid-weight cotton for shirts, skirts, and dresses, or a quilted Ayora Jacket from Pauline Alice patterns.
Stripes are perpendicular to the selvedge, about 2 inches apart.
- handwoven and partly hand-spun
- all cotton
- 46 inches wide
