In rural India, women often recycle worn-out saris into other textile forms. Torn into strips, those old clothes can be given new life when woven into handloom cotton fabrics like this.
A base of lapis blue is the perfect foil for upcycled stripes of red, yellow and white. Light- to mid-weight cotton, perfect for shirts, skirts, and dresses. Try making a quilted Ayora Jacket from Pauline Alice patterns. Stripes are perpendicular to the selvedge, about 2 inches apart.
